Healthy Life: Nomadic Nurse Agency Provides Invaluable Mobile Nursing Services | Healthy life

Mélanie Jade Boulerice has been working as a registered nurse in the emergency room and in psychiatry for seven years. Graduated from John Abbott College followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. Francis Xavier University, and is currently a teacher for the OIIQ exam workshops by John Abbott College.

She has developed a program to provide nursing students with resources for the Quebec license exam (OIIQ / OIIAQ) including study tools, tutoring and mentoring in the health field. She is currently a nurse in the general emergency of the MUHC Montreal, a level 1 trauma center. She has created a mobile nurse service to bring nursing experience on site during events to encourage preventive care and can provide rapid assessments that reduce the load on hospital emergency rooms. The nomadic nurses agency also places experienced nurses in pharmacies for the same reason (this service is however suspended during the pandemic).

Here is what Melanie Jade Boulerice had to say about her important and life-saving work.

What are your current mobile nursing services?

I go house to house with full protection to do blood tests, injections and other much needed procedures. Some need injections every month because they have started a vaccination schedule and need an update.

How has your professional experience helped to create these services?

I have worked on the front line in the ER, and I also have experience in triage and emergencies.

How do people get in touch to book such services?

They call me directly (438-888-8979). They need their requisition from their doctor (because each blood test must now be prescribed by a doctor), and I work with two laboratories.

Are there any services you won’t do?

Glucose tolerance tests are not recommended at home, so I will not do them. And certain blood tests indicated by the laboratory where the patient must be present for the test.
